In this episode, I talk about how changing one thing could be the best health decision of the year.
New year resolutions
As we quickly approach the end of January, how are your resolutions going?
Many people will have committed to giving up something in January, booze or meat, maybe, and are probably feeling healthier as a result. However, the problem with committing to a drastic change for a limited amount of time, is what you do when that has finished?
Making long term commitments
I encourage my clients to make smaller commitments, but make it a permanent change. What I often find is that as they make a small change, they naturally add others on. For example, they may choose to reduce their amount of caffeine by say 1 or 2 cups a day, and they will naturally increase their water intake as a result.
These compounding changes become new habits, so that we often don’t even realise we are doing them. And lots of small changes make one massive positive result.
Ideas for ONE change
- Have a meat free day each week
- Reduce your caffeine intake by 1 cup each week
- Try a new vegetable every week
- Add one more vegetable to your plate
- Make water the first drink of the day
- Increase your step count every day
- Go to bed half an hour earlier
