In this episode, I talk to The Menopause Mentor, Jacky Wood. Jacky has taken her own experience of menopause, along with all the research and training she has done as a result and is now committed to helping as many women as she can have an easier journey through perimenopause.
About Jacky Wood
Jacky Wood was a corporate woman until a few years ago and went into therapy treatments, Emmett, Scarwork, Access Bars, and some holistic treatment. When lockdown began, she was unable to practice any more so put all her efforts into being an Ambassador for Tropic Skincare, which has become one of her tools in helping women to find their balance again during their menopause years of transition.
We are all different
Whilst there might be 34 symptoms of menopause, it isn’t okay to just blame everything on the menopause. Whatever a woman has experience in her life leading up to menopause, along with what is going on in her life right now will affect how well her menopause transition is. Jacky wants us all to take time to spotlight our own health.
How long does it last?
Jacky’s personal journey with perimenopause was around 10 years. However when she reached the menopause day – which is the day that we have had 12 months without a period, her symptoms did not simply stop.
Whilst this was difficult for her, it forced her to really evaluate her life and make health changes to support her journey further and that finally helped her reduce the symptoms and live the life she deserved.
Jacky’s journey
Jacky, like many women, experienced some significant life changes just at the time she entered perimenopause, she now looks back and wonders if these events exacerbated her symptoms. And this is at the core of what she wants to offer women going forward. An ability to unpack whatever is currently happening and what has lead up to this moment in time, so that they can find the right support for them going forwar.
Through offering a free initial consultation Jacky is able to really connect with those clients that are ready to make changes that will support their health and wellbeing. She then works through her own coaching system with them over a period of 12 weeks, along with referring to specialist practitioners when needed.
