What is it that you are telling yourself that’s getting in the way of you making better health decisions. Instead of constantly putting it off why not make a change now.
There’s always a reason not to start.
Do you always plan to start that new healthy regime on a Monday? Or maybe it’s after your weekend, or after your holiday, or that big night out with friends? Then you get to Tuesday and you eat a biscuit or a cake and you decide that it’s not worth starting now and you set a new date?
The trouble is that we can always find a reason not to start. That we don’t have the correct food in the house, we don’t have time to prepare the meals or plan what to eat. Is that the real reason? Or is it just that you feel overwhelmed by the change you perceive you need to make instead of just taking a positive action.
Every healthy decision is a good one
Looking after your own health isn’t about being perfect. If you eat better today than you did yesterday that’s positive. If you choose something healthier at the restaurant that’s positive. All the positive decisions make for improved health overall.
So I encourage you to stop setting start dates and just start. It doesn’t mean that you have to completely overhaul your diet, it means you can give yourself permission to make better decisions anytime, and all the time.
Seeing it as an investment in your future
If your health was money would you budget better, if you knew that you had a limited amount of health available then would you spend it wiser? Unfortunately, unlike money health isn’t a tangible thing, we can’t see it as a balance in our account or on a spreadsheet.
But why not think of your health in that way, being frugal some days and spending more on others – to create a better balance. Thats much easier than trying to be good all the time. Each day you eat better you are investing in your long term healthy pot, and you can start to draw on that investment as you age.
