I love recording the seasonal food episodes and as autumn is my favourite season this is probably one of my favourite episodes of the year.
I am a huge advocate of eating seasonally and now that the temperatures are falling I’m craving comfort food that you can eat with a spoon (and a hunk of bread).
Whilst there are still the last of the summer fruits and salads available, and if the weather is good in September then I’ll still be enjoying those. We are moving into squashes, celery, root vegetables and foods that prefer to be cooked nice and slow, which is exactly what the seasonal change demands.
Eating seasonally is something that I encourage all my clients to adopt. Fruit and vegetables that are grown locally and allowed to fully mature, then delivered with the minimum number of food miles will have the most amount of nutrients. Meaning they are better for us, and better for the environment.
