During this weeks episode I am speaking to Kate Lyman from KL Nutrition. She has a really positive attitude and has lots to share with us. Kate is a nutrition coach and works one to one with individuals to achieve their goals. Kate is very passionate about what she does.
Kate’s Journey
Kate started working in fitness from the age of 17. Whilst studying, she took a change of direction and started to look more into nutrition, as well as continuing with her love of fitness. Kate started coaching and has grown her business and now has a team working with her. Myself and Kate both agree that health and wellness is a journey, it is not a short term thing. If someone cannot commit to a long term change then it will not benefit us or the client. Effort is required, it takes a lot to commit to eat healthily and to do exercise. Goals should be realistic and achievable. This will help the journey to be more positive.
Because of Kate’s profession, she feels a lot of pressure to look a certain way. I understand this as a lot of people see me eating pizza and ask “Are you really going to eat that??“. It is important not to put too much pressure on yourself and enjoy whatever you want. Kate and her team like to promote flexibility, balance and positivity.
During the pandemic, Kate has focused on what she can control and changed her messaging to reflect this. Self care was important for her and her clients, she had some time to look after herself and was able to cook more rather than eat out as much. Kate has now committed to do exercise and sees it as fun. She participates in many different types of exercise which is a release for her after staying at home all day.
Kate’s Top Tips
