In this episode, I talk to Georgia Gallone about her app Meal Trackr. It’s a simple way to track how much red meat, fish and vegan food you eat.
About Georgia
“I am a freelance digital marketing consultant with over ten years of experience. A few years ago I decided to lead a more sustainable life, and this led me in the last 12 months, to create an app to help people become more aware of how much meat they consume.“
What is Meal Trackr
When Georgia decided to consume less meat, she wanted an easy way to record her food so that she could track whether she was actually eating less. She couldn’t find what she wanted and after trying to work with spreadsheets, she decided to create her own app. The app is really easy to use and shows on a user friendly pie chart, what proportion of vegan, vegetarian, red meat, white meat and fish you are eating.
The joy is in the simplicity of the app; it give you just enough information in a user friendly form.
Being more sustainable
Georgia is committed to living more sustainably, and has a blog where she shares tips and research on easy swaps. True to form, Georgia focuses on simplicity – the name says it all EZSwaps.
What next?
Georgia would encourage everyone to make as many small changes as they can. By making small swaps, we can have a positive impact. The Meal Trackr App is just the start.
I’ve been using the app for a few months and it has made me think more about the food that I am eating. I have realised that I didn’t eat as much fish as I thought and have been making an effort to increase it. I love that it is so easy to use, it literally takes a few seconds each day.
Quick fire!
- What is your most positively memorable meal? Noma in Copenhagen, not necessarily for the food which was strange, but for the atmosphere and the experience.
- What food reminds you of childhood? Plain pasta with oil – that’s it!
- What have you got for tea? Pasta of course! With lots of vegetables.
