In this episode, I talk about perfectionism. Are you striving for perfection or are you being realistic about your goals?
A perfect day
I want you to imagine your perfect day. What would you be doing? Who are you with?
Now replay that and look at yourself, how do you look? Are you laughing, smiling? Do you look much different to how you are now? My guess is that you look quite similar, maybe your hair is shinier and you’ve toned up a bit, but I’m guessing it’s not that skinny person that you are constantly battling to become.
Kintsugi
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing a broken vase with gold, so that the new pot is even more beautiful.
When we are denying ourselves we are not beautiful, most of us are rather grumpy and quite ugly! But when we are doing the things we enjoy, we smile and laugh; our happiness shines through.
I want you to be my fun friend who wants to come out and enjoy life with me. Lets go dancing for our exercise today.
Balance is key
Your perfect day, like mine, might include eating out with friends which we all know is not something that we should do every day. We need to create some balance so that we have enough energy and vitality when we need it.
What are the key things to think about so that we can enjoy those indulgences from time to time?
- Drink plenty of water – I say it every week, hopefully you are doing that by now!
- Sleep – you can’t do anything well if you have not had enough sleep.
- Eat more plants – there are literally thousands of different varieties, everyone can find some that they like.
- Reduce processed foods – think of them as ‘non food products’. They are not adding to your daily nutritional needs and are just a bunch of chemicals.
