In this week’s episode I explore how our bodies detoxify, removing toxins and giving itself the support that it needs.
What is detoxification?
Our bodies have several ways to remove toxins.
The liver is our largest detoxification organ and it filters our blood, processes nutrients and removes toxins. Our lungs remove toxins from the air we breathe, and our kidneys also filter excess toxins from our blood.
Our intestines or gut, have a big job to do processing food, passing nutrients into our blood and eliminating waste. Constipation is one of the biggest factors in many people I see who have issues with detoxification.
Do we need a detox plan?
There are times when a person may need additional help in detoxifying, but this should be done with expert supervision and the backing of scientific researched supplements. Do it naturally
Personally, I do not think that many of the 30-day detox diets based on juices, powders or tea are really that good. They are just a way of selling you a product, I would much rather you do it naturally. - Drink more water
- Move more to get your blood flowing
- Breathe deeply
- Eat real food
- Cut out caffeine and alcohol
