Episode 94 – Dehydration and mineral depletion – is it the route of modern illness? With Desiree Lotz

In this episode, I talk to Desiree Lotz, who has been helping people to look after their bodies for over 40 years.

About Desiree

“I’ve been helping people with their bodies for more than 40 years. I was born and raised in South Africa on natural foods and never had packaged foods or what I call poisonous stuff. I became a detox specialist, helping people clean out their bodies and remove toxins and radiation from them. A key aspect was watching for dehydration and other deficiency symptoms.

I learnt a lot from this program, and have subsequently helped thousands of people handle their nutritional deficiencies, and am in the middle of finishing my first book on dehydration. My big purpose is to calm the planet down and this starts with a healthy body and having adequate minerals, particularly my Instant CalMag-C along with REAL salt to keep the body’s engine going, which results in a better mental attitude and more calmness.”

Food over supplements

Despite having her own supplement, (link below) Desiree is a firm believer in eating good quality food as a first point of call. She grew up eating what she describes as real food and worries about the ultra processed diet many of us are now eating. Desiree calls this poison, not food!

Mineral depletion

Is the rise of chronic illness down to mineral depletion? Eating locally grown and seasonal vegetables are a key factor in improving our mineral status. This along with supplementation of her CalMag-C if needed.

Signs of mineral depletion include:

  • Muscle strain and discomfort
  • Poor quality sleep
  • Digestive issues
  • Compromised immune system

Dehydration issues are not just in hot countries!

We are all encouraged to drink more water, but Desiree believes that this is just part of the problem. Increased use of air conditioning and central heating systems are causing our bodies to become dehydrated, even when we are drinking the recommended amounts. She suggest adding a small amount of good quality salt – her favourite is Scottish Sea Salt, to her water.

Quick fire!

  • What is your most positively memorable meal? Desiree loves curry – any kind!
  • What food reminds you of childhood? Grated Carrots
  • What have you got for tea? Fettuccine Alfredo – leftovers from last night’s restaurant meal.
