What if we could uncover the reasons behind how you feel and take control of your health with confidence?

The answer lies inside of you!

Genetic testing is a powerful tool that offers insight into your unique genetic blueprint.

Fed up with feeling “bleugh”?

No time to worry or wonder what is making you feel how you do?

You might be surprised to know you have all the answers in your genes.

Why choose genetic testing?

You have nearly 20,000 different genes and each gene has two parts. In genetic testing, we don’t test them all; we test those genes that can be positively influenced by making changes to diet and lifestyle, or those that may have an impact on our health outcomes.

Each gene has two parts to it, and you inherit one from your mother and one from your father.

A SNP is a change in the standard (or common) genetic type. By analysing your personal coding we can uncover how your body is wired to function.

While your genes don’t change, the key to thriving lies in understanding how they respond to diet, lifestyle, and other factors. This is known as nutrigenomics. Through nutrigenomics we can optimise them for the best possible outcomes.

My genetic testing service is a truly personalised approach, designed to help you make the most of your genetic potential to support balance, energy, and overall well-being through midlife and beyond.

one to one nutritional support

I found the genetic testing useful, insightful and interesting and Wendy was able to interpret the results in a way that made sense to me and gave me the confidence to know I was eating in a way that was suitable for my personal needs and not just following a fad trend diet.

Nutrient Core

Included in both of the Genetics Test packages.

This foundational test analyses how gene variants can affect food tolerance, appetite control and blood sugar balance.

Assess your personal vitamin and mineral needs and your detoxification ability, and susceptibility to inflammation and infection.

Nutrient Core will help you understand the fundamental genetic interactions with diet and lifestyle.

It includes genes that have been shown to affect:

  • food response – gluten (coeliac) and lactose intolerance
  • caffeine – sensitivity and metabolism
  • microbiome diversity tendency
  • vitamin need – how you absorb and process vitamins A, B9 (folate), B12, C, D and K
  • factors that influence blood pressure
  • general detoxification (additional detoxification panel for more insight)
    appetite regulation
  • blood sugar control
  • inflammation response
  • circadian rhythm – are you a natural early bird or night owl

Metabolics

Included in both of the Genetics Test packages.

This is all about energy and metabolism and analyses how your genes affect energy regulation, longevity and healthspan.

Metabolism is how your body converts the food you eat into energy, it is key to all cellular reactions in the body. Movement, growth and development, thinking and even breathing and waste elimination are all factors in a healthy metabolism.

This test looks at the key genes that can powerfully affect your energy, digging deeper into appetite regulation, sugar and fat metabolism, cholesterol and bile, mitochondria health and factors affecting inflammation.

Understanding how to improve metabolism through lifestyle, diet and supplements can have a significant impact on current and future health outcomes.

Additional Tests

Optional extras can be ordered at the same time as your chosen Genetic Test Package.

Each additional test is £125.

Nervous System

included in Menopause Balance Genetics

This test looks at your nervous system, which supports your mental sharpness, emotional health and stress management.

Imbalances can become highlighted in menopause when we are already coping with changes in other hormone levels and disruption to our natural balance.

Symptoms of imbalance can include:

  • mood imbalances,
  • depression or mania,
  • attention deficit or obsessive compulsive disorders
  • addictive behaviours,
  • motor control disruption,
  • anger or aggression
  • restlessness.

Methylation

included in the Mid-Life Optimisation

This test looks at your susceptibility to chronic health conditions.

Methylation is involved in almost every metabolic process in the body, occurring billions of times every second in our cells and contributes to many numerous crucial functions.

This test can look if you are likely to be poor or overly efficient at processing.

It can indicate conditions such as :

  • heart disease,
  • circulatory problems,
  • chronic fatigue,
  • infertility,
  • immune and autoimmune conditions,
  • food and chemical sensitivities and
  • mood and psychiatric disorders.

It can also show genes which have a significant influence on ageing and longevity.

Detoxification

This test examines your body’s ability to remove toxins. Poor detoxification has a number of effects on your body.

Detoxification is the physiological removal of toxic substances from the human body.

It is mainly carried out by the liver, and to a lesser extent the small intestine, kidneys and lungs.

Poor detoxification can cause symptoms such as :

  • headaches
  • muscle aches
  • fatigue
  • allergies
  • skin disorders
  • weight gain or bloating
  • acid reflux and heartburn
  • excessive sweating
  • chronic infections
  • subfertility
  • low libido
  • poor mental function
  • low stress tolerance

Hormones

This test analyses genes involved in the regulation, signalling and transport of your hormones. It’s ideal if you are using or considering HRT.

Steroid hormones are a group of hormones derived from cholesterol including progesterone, oestrogen, testosterone, DHEA, and cortisol (and their derivatives).

Hormones play a crucial role in regulating key functions like reproduction, metabolism, inflammation, and immune response.

When hormone levels are imbalanced, it can lead to a wide range of symptoms including :

  • infertility
  • low libido
  • acne
  • excess facial hair in women
  • PCOS or fibroids
  • PMS
  • blood clots
  • mood swings or depression
  • memory issues
  • and weight gain.

Hormonal imbalances are also linked to conditions like hormone-sensitive cancers, such as breast and prostate cancer.

The Hormones test analyses genes involved in the regulation, synthesis, signalling, transport and metabolism of corticosteroids and sex steroid hormones, including the HPA and HPG axis.

It looks at how these gene variants affect hormone imbalance and details the nutrients and environmental factors that can influence and improve their balance.

Histamine

This test analyses the genes and nutrients needed to breakdown and remove histamine, which can build up and become toxic.

Histamine has many functions including communicating messages to and from the brain and nervous system; triggering the release of stomach acid to help digestion; and it can also be released after stress, injury or allergic reaction as part of the body’s immune response.

When the body is unable to break histamine down quickly enough it becomes toxic. Symptoms of histamine toxicity may include :

  • skin irritation
  • breathing difficulties (mimicking an allergic reaction)
  • digestive problems
  • headaches
  • insomnia
  • anxiety

Thyroid Balance

The Thyroid Balance report analyses the genes involved in the thyroid hormone lifecycle and is for you if you been diagnosed or suspect a thyroid condition.

The thyroid is an endocrine gland in the neck that produces two thyroid hormones.

Thyroid hormones control the metabolism of almost every cell in the body, with wide-ranging metabolic, developmental and cardiovascular effects.

Thyroid activity is altered by genetics and environmental factors: such as diet, exposure to toxins and mould, physical stressors, bacteria and viruses.

Imbalance can result in impact transport, activation and response to thyroid hormones. Deficiency or excess of thyroid hormones can result in many different symptoms:

  • Hypothyroidism (underactivity) – weight gain, fatigue, low libido, cold intolerance, dry skin, constipation and depression
  • Hyperthyroidism (overactivity) –  anxiety, heat intolerance, heart palpitations, insomnia and weight loss.

APOE (Alzheimers risk)

This test is the one they talk about in regard to understanding your risk to the onset of Alzheimers.

In addition to analyzing the APOE gene, this test examines genes related to methylation, inflammation, detoxification, and neuroprotection.

By identifying these genetic factors, individuals can take proactive steps to enhance their long-term health through personalised nutrition and lifestyle adjustments.

Why should you work with me?

Having been a busy businesswoman with long days and complicated responsibilities, I know how hard it is to take care of yourself alongside everything else on your plate. And by the time you reach out for help, you are usually already weary. The idea of taking on new and elaborate self-care or food regimes, can feel like a mountain to climb.

I’m a practical person. I don’t want to just hand you some rules and send you away, knowing that there is very little chance you will be able to fit those rules into your busy life.

I don’t want to give you solutions that go against your principles, or that make it difficult for you to fit in at work or to have a social life.

I want to give you personalised advice and support that is achievable, that moves the needle for you and actually fits into your real life.

Some of your questions answered

How does it work?

A simple cotton swab is provided to collect loose cells from the inside of your mouth.

You can send it back on any day and it does not need to be stored or transported in any special way.

It is sent off to a lab for analysis, and the results are ready three to four weeks later.

When should I do it?

Genetic testing can be done at any age, from one day old to a hundred years young. The earlier you test, the sooner you can tailor your diet and lifestyle to work with and support your genetics.

How long are my results valid?

As your genes are fixed, you do not need to retest them.

If you have changing health goals, you can use the same results with a different interpretation to support you to achieve your revised goals.

What happens with my test result data?

You own your test results, and you can copy/download them and even take them to a different practitioner if you wish.

Your data is safe, secure and confidential. The results will be safely stored on our digital secure client platform for 5 years and then destroyed. We do not keep paper copies. Your data will never be shared or sold.

Samples are anonymised and each sample is destroyed after 3 months

What qualifications do you have?

I studied for 3 years at The College of Naturopathic Nutrition to gain my NT diploma. To ensure my British Association of Nutritional Therapist membership I have to complete 35 hours of CPD each year.

Since qualifying I have also trained as a Nutrition Coach and a Nutrigenomics Practitioner.

I’m not in menopause can you help me?

Whilst my speciality is midlife I am able to support you at any stage of your life journey.

Why not book an introductory call and I can answer any questions you might have so we can ensure we are a good fit.

What happens once I make my payment?
Are the consultations available in person or online?

The 30 min interpretation call is online via Zoom.

What is different about working with you?

Each Nutritional Therapist will work in a slightly different way. My approach is to support you to make necessary adjustments to your diet and lifestyle that will support you in achieving your goals. I want you to understand why you are making these changes. My ultimate goal is for you to be the strongest version of yourself so that you can deal with anything life may throw at you.
