Today is for living, don’t wait till tomorrow

The Dalai Lama when asked what surprises him “Man! Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

I see this so often in my job, that people have very successful lives on the surface, they have good jobs, big houses, nice car, exotic holidays, but they are not happy. They spend their lives feeling tired, uncomfortable and unwell. They are unable to enjoy the life they have worked so hard to create.

Why?

Because we have forgotten that the most important thing we need to take care of is ourselves, that without our health, both physical and mental, what is the good of all the riches?

When I see new clients they often want to lose some weight, they feel uncomfortable in their clothes and are sluggish, and they believe that by losing weight they will feel better. However, how many of us have tried a diet, felt better for a few weeks, simply to return to our ‘old selves’ and feel crappy again? Dieting and weight loss is not the answer, good nutrition, improved health and wellbeing is. It is with self care, good nourishment and rest that we can truly be well, and an eating plan that is primarily focussed on weight loss is not the way to achieve this.

When I work with clients we look at their current eating habits, how much sleep they are getting, how much exercise, the regularity and ease of bowel movements, the condition of their skin and their energy levels. Eating a good balanced diet is essential, and whilst I can help clients achieve this, if they don’t look at all aspects of wellbeing is like putting premium fuel in an old banger, it won’t make it go any faster. Any changes we make need to be long term changes, our goal is to feel better for the rest of our lives, not to lose weight for you next holiday.

When you are well fed and well rested you will naturally have more energy, you will move more, you will enjoy life more and, if you need to, you will lose weight.

So if you want to stop living like there is no tomorrow, and start enjoying your life today, contact me and I’ll help you make the changes needed.
